Wieland is hiring a 3rd Shift Material Handler. The Material Handler will be responsible for sit-down forklift and/or other material handling equipment as part of the distribution process within a fast-paced warehouse setting. Transporting material from stock location to each machine center in a safe and control way in means of forklift or overhead crane. This role is located in Wheeling, IL and will be fully on-site.
Hourly Pay Range: $19.00/hr - $25.00/hr
Shift Differential: $2.00/hr
Work Schedule: 3rd Shift (10:00 pm - 6:00 am)

The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be based upon various factors unique to each individual that may include but are not limited to years of experience, industry knowledge, technical skills, education, qualifications, etc.
ResponsibilitiesMaterial Handler Responsibilities:
- Loads, unloads and moves material within plant using an overhead crane. (Training to be provided) and forklift (training will be provided). Ensure equipment is properly positioned before turning it on and off or loading and unloading it.
- Opens containers, using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools.
- Uses a forklift to move parts from one division to another.
- Unpack and organizing pre-material and finished areas for safe walkways and good housekeeping.
- Perform routine inspection of work area to ensure sites are kept clean and safe. Perform daily inspections on forklifts, crane, chains and straps and ropes.
- Report any damages from incoming or outgoing Material.
- Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Bring problems to the attention of the Supervisor, Safety, or HR. Comply with all policies and environmental standards. Report all incidents immediately (including near misses)
Safely maneuver motorized material handling equipment in accordance with company health and safety regulations.
Material Handler Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED (preferred)
- 1 years' experience on forklift and willing to learn overhead cranes. Previous experience with heavy metals or similar type of manufacturing
- Must be able to read orders and understand computer network for processing coils throughout the plant.
- Ability to work with calipers, micrometers, and other types of testing equipment
- Previous experience safely operating a fork truck, crane, and walk behind mobile pallet jack is preferred. Willingness to learn and become certified is required if no prior experience.
- Monitor material quality including flatness, gauge, hardness, grain size and surface finish Ensure proper identification of coils and samples
- Achieve production throughput, yield and scrap goals
- Maintain a positive attitude in a team environment

- Ability to stand, balance, walk, and reach for extended periods. Negotiate stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks and platforms. Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch. Walk over uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
- Exposure to production environments that are not temperature controlled.
- Manual dexterity for handling and manipulating items, samples, and tools.
- Vision abilities, including close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment.
- Use hands and fingers to handle, touch or manipulate items.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
