Responsibilities
  • Safely operate the SA2 Continuous Strand Annealing line, including coil changeovers, monitoring material quality, adjusting settings, and performing basic maintenance.
  • Review the mill card before processing to understand annealing requirements.
  • Set up equipment and anneal material in accordance with work instructions at the equipment site.
  • Troubleshoot frontline line issues on SA2 and associated equipment and communicate needs to Production Management and Maintenance.
  • Complete all quality checks, enter data onto the mill card, adjust equipment settings for production, perform routine calibrations, and test process fluids—document findings on SPC charts.
  • Conduct in‑process inspections (hardness, surface finish, grain size) and document processes using the oven‑book.
  • Gather materials for jobs, load and unload trucks, sort materials, maintain inventory documentation, and use material handling equipment (forklift, crane, walk‑behind mobile pallet jack) to move and store materials safely while keeping the facility clean and orderly.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience with heavy metals or similar manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, and other testing equipment.
  • Experience safely operating a forklift, crane, and walk‑behind pallet jack is preferred; willingness to learn and become certified if needed.
  • Ability to monitor material quality—flatness, gauge, hardness, grain size, surface finish—and correctly identify coils and samples.
  • Track production throughput, yield, and scrap goals.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in a team environment.
Physical Demands
  • Stand, balance, walk, and reach for extended periods; navigate stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks, and platforms; occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch; walk over uneven or slippery surfaces.
  • Work in production environments that are not temperature controlled.
  • Manual dexterity required for handling, manipulating items, samples, and tools.
  • Vision requirements: close vision, color vision, focus adjustment.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle, touch, or manipulate items.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
