Position Summary:

The School Psychologist will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our students. This position involves conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations, providing counseling and crisis intervention, developing and implementing intervention plans, and collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to create a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Special Education Support:
    • Assist in completing the Special Education domain and eligibility process.
    • Serve as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative at Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
    • Conduct diagnostic psychological testing and write comprehensive social-developmental histories.
    • Develop and write measurable IEP goals and provide direct counseling services to students.
  • Intervention and Counseling:
    • Assist teams in developing and implementing effective Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for both General Education and Special Education students.
    • Write initial 504 Plans and provide ongoing case management.
    • Provide intervention assistance to students, families, and staff, addressing academic, social, and emotional needs.
    • Implement evidence-based group counseling curriculum.
    • Provide classroom-based interventions/presentations in collaboration with teachers.
  • Collaboration and Consultation:
    • Provide consultation services to the Student Services team, teachers, and administrators.
    • Collaborate with the Dean of Students to create and implement intervention plans.
    • Lead an intervention team comprising counselors, case managers, and administrators.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Assist in coordinating post-secondary transition support for students.
    • Serve as the building Homeless Liaison, in conjunction with the Associate Principal for Student Services (APSS).
    • Follow directives of the Special Education Division Head and the Associate Principal for Student Services.
Qualifications:
  • Valid State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Psychologist endorsement.
  • Master's, Educational Specialist, or Doctorate degree in School Psychology.
  • Strong background in psychological testing and measurement.
  • Demonstrated experience in counseling and crisis intervention.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with parents, students, and staff.
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with special education requirements.
  • Knowledge of current special education laws and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with a diverse student population.
  • Experience in a high school setting.
  • Language skills in Spanish or Polish strongly preferred.
