A leading organization is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of IT Applications to lead a team of 12 technical professionals in a .NET and Azure-hosted environment. This role is pivotal in driving transformation as the organization prepares for the future of its mission and services. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in application development, cloud platforms, and Dev Sec Ops practices, while championing secure-by-design principles and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
They will partner with business stakeholders to deliver solutions that align with organizational goals and regulatory standards.
As a key member of the senior IT leadership team, the Director of IT Applications will ensure business technology solutions enhance operational efficiency, support innovation, and provide a competitive edge. This role will collaborate across IT and business units to lead transformation initiatives, optimize application value, and uphold security and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Mentorship- Lead, coach, and develop a team of 12 developers to build technical capability, accountability, and leadership skills.
- Drive the transformation of the applications team by adopting Agile, Dev Sec Ops , secure coding standards, mobile-ready, and cloud-native architectures.
- Inspire a collaborative, high-performing culture that values innovation, security, and quality.
- Own the design, development, and maintenance of applications in a .NET, SaaS, and Azure environment.
- Collaborate with architecture teams to conduct buy-build-customize analyses and operationalize outcomes.
- Build strong relationships with business partners to identify and deliver solutions that drive revenue growth and operational efficiency.
- Shape, execute, and champion the IT applications roadmap in alignment with strategic goals.
- Manage solutions supporting association management (e.g., Personify), content management (e.g., Optimizely), marketing automation (e.g., Hub Spot), and other SaaS applications.
- Collaborate closely with infrastructure, data, architecture, program management, and security teams to deliver future-ready solutions.
- Manage relationships with key software vendors, consultants, and service providers.
- Negotiate contracts, monitor performance, and ensure vendors meet security, compliance, and service-level expectations.
- Embed security controls and compliance requirements (GDPR, PCI, NIST, ISO) throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Manage the enterprise applications budget with a focus on cost-effectiveness and resource optimization.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master's degree or MBA preferred.
- 10+ years in IT, with 5+ years in enterprise application leadership.
- Experience managing technical teams of 12+ professionals and budgets exceeding $1 million.
- Proven track record of delivering secure, modern, and compliant applications (GDPR, PCI, NIST, ISO).
- Experience with association management platforms (e.g., Personify), CMS (Optimizely), and marketing tools (Hub Spot) strongly preferred.
- Background in nonprofit, membership-based, or government technology organizations is a plus.
- Demonstrated success in transforming teams, fostering growth, and developing future leaders.
- Proven ability to manage vendors and third‑party partners effectively.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Technical Expertise:
