Our facilities Department has a new position! We are looking for a driver/messenger to join our team. In this position you will be delivering mail and supplies between our facilities in DuPage County. You must have the ability to safely operate Health Department vehicles in order to complete job assignments. This is a full-time, 37.5 hour a week position, Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

- Picks up and delivers all inter-departmental mail and equipment at all Health Department locations.
- Loads bags and boxes into and out of a van.
- Maintains a regular schedule of mail deliveries.
- Picks up and delivers deposit slips to the bank.
- Assists with various maintenance and janitorial duties such as moving furniture, shoveling and salting sidewalks.
- Organizes daily conference room schedule, setting up conference rooms in various layouts to accommodate meetings and trainings.
- Monitors inventory of janitorial supplies and submits orders for supplies to facilities clerk.
- Pulls janitorial supplies from storge to replenish at off-site locations during the daily deliveries.
- Notifies supervisor of unexpected changes in assignments or schedule.
- Participates in emergency response activities as assigned.
- Completes required training.
- Maintains required licensure and/or certification.
- Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to patient privacy laws.
- Demonstrates sensitivity and understanding of other ethnic groups and cultures.
- Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality.
Good knowledge of the local geography and streets; good knowledge of safety procedures for lifting, moving, and carrying heavy objects; some knowledge of county facilities, locations, and functions. Working skill in safely operating motor vehicles; working skill in organizing work assignments in order to complete daily tasks; some skill in developing and maintaining positive and professional relationships with internal and external customers;
some skill in the use of good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions; some skill in verbal and written communication.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, stand, and drive. The employee is occasionally required to move, lift, and/or carry up to 50 pounds. The work environment regularly involves working in both a Health Department vehicle and in extreme outside weather conditions.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSThis position requires a valid Illinois Driver’s License with a clean driving record for the past 5 years. One year of driving or delivery responsibility; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
