About the Position
Adelphi is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as Director of Nursing within a secured correctional healthcare setting in DuPage County, Illinois. The DON will oversee all nursing operations, ensuring compliance with clinical, professional, and facility standards while providing leadership to the nursing team.

Requirements

• Illinois Registered Nursing license

• Current CPR certification

• Annual tuberculosis (TB) testing

• Criminal background and fingerprint clearance

• Completion of facility orientation and annual competency training

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate all nursing services to ensure 24/7 coverage.

• Supervise and evaluate nursing personnel performance, ensuring adherence to scope of practice and competency requirements.

• Oversee documentation, medication administration, and adherence to physician orders.

• Develop and maintain infection control and safety programs.

• Ensure compliance with NCCHC, ACA, and IDOC standards.

• Lead nursing orientation, education, and ongoing staff development.

• Collaborate with the Medical Director and facility leadership to address operational and clinical issues.

• Participate in audits, quality assurance, and performance improvement initiatives.

• Ensure adequate staffing levels, scheduling, and delegation of responsibilities.

• Promote effective communication and collaboration across all care disciplines.

• Any other duties as assigned.
