Job DescriptionThis role combines clinical care with transportation responsibilities to ensure seamless service for patients and providers. You’ll perform vital clinical and administrative tasks such as taking vitals, scheduling appointments, assisting with dictation, processing labs and specimens, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. In addition, you’ll travel to various locations, assist with homebound patient care, transport providers, and manage fleet vehicle maintenance and cleanliness.

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and regulatory standards. The CMA is a multi-skilled worker who assumes a wide range of clinical and administrative roles within the physician office setting. Under the supervision of a Physician and/or the direction of a licensed nurse, the CMA provides direct and indirect patient care, performs laboratory testing, and may assist with clerical functions.
The CMA serves as a key team player when interacting with patients and clinical staff in the ambulatory care environment.
- Presents a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and appearance.
- Provides accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers. Addresses questions and concerns promptly, or identifies the appropriate person and resources to do so. Provides directions or help to patients and customers with finding their way.

- Rooms patients and provides direct patient care under the supervision of a physician and/or direction of an RN/LPN. Records medical histories, medications, vital signs, and prepares patients for procedures. Administers care according to patient age and abilities.
- Explains treatment procedures to patients; reinforces education regarding medications and testing provided by the RN/LPN or physician.
- Administers injections and medications as directed by a physician.
- Performs point-of-care testing, venipuncture, urine dips, finger sticks, cultures, strep and flu screens, pregnancy tests, and other tests. Performs additional tests and office procedures as needed (e.g., EKGs, pulmonary testing, chronic disease management).
- Relays normal test results to patient or reads results from physician documentation; consults with an RN, LPN, or physician for questions.
- Maintains infection control standards and sterilization techniques; ensures clean and safe exam/procedure rooms.
- Participates in governance, committee work, and practice/department projects; supports co-workers and mentors new staff as needed.
