We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as an Emergency Management Coordinator with DuPage County's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (OHSEM). This Coordinator will be tasked with a wide range of emergency management activities, including preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation. The ideal candidate will be an experienced emergency manager who can efficiently review relevant publications, best practices, and after‑action reports, write concise and effective plans, represent the organization, and develop and participate in training and exercises.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Serves as on‑call duty officer as part of a rotating schedule.
- Performs Emergency Operations Center (EOC) duties/positions as assigned.
- Prepares situation reports and other incident documentation during EOC activations.
- Serves as an OHSEM liaison to various agencies and departments and other first responders, which may include emergency on-scene unified command post response.
- Conducts hazard analysis and mitigation planning.
- Reviews and recommends modifications to emergency operations plans, procedures, and job aids.
- Coordinates with various departments to gather necessary information for planning purposes.
- Evaluates and updates emergency plans based on research and after‑action reports.
- Monitors state and federal planning requirements to ensure continued compliance.
- Assists DuPage County municipalities with comprehensive emergency management plans.
- Participates in training, exercises, and mutual aid response for specialized emergency and disaster teams, e.g. EMAT, IMAT, ITECS, etc.
- Assists county‑wide stakeholders and public safety partners in preparing for large‑scale events and emergencies.
- Coordinates DuPage County’s Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) implementation, National Incident Management System (NIMS) training and compliance, employee emergency training, and DuPage County exercises and regional exercise coordination.
- Provides training, conducts exercises, and implements county and municipal emergency plans.
- Tracks, maintains records and monitors activities and licensures (i.e. training records, donations, communication licensing, and grants) to ensure compliance as required.
- Monitors open‑source accounts/social media (e.g. X, Facebook, etc.) of international/domestic incidents related to potential or ongoing incidents/issues, study results of targeted topics, and as directed, advise leadership of developments.
- Coordinates preparedness education, public information and warning and community and volunteer management.
- Serves on committees and acts as a liaison on behalf of OHSEM as assigned.
- Coordinates communications technology development, planning, and implementation.
- Develops and maintains EOC technology.
- Provides oversight of OHSEM's fleet and coordinates service with the County Division of Transportation.
- Develops and maintains project schedules and timelines.
- Maintains up‑to‑date knowledge of best practices in emergency management.
- Serves as a lead worker to other staff within primary area of responsibility.
- Adjusts work assignment or schedule in the event of an emergency to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities as assigned.
- Depending on assignment, may require emergency management training, licensure or certifications.
