Position: Universal Banker I, II, III - Wheaton

Essential Job Functions – All Levels
  • Meet sales and service goals by actively engaging in bank sales processes, profiling customers, building strong relationships, using software, and participating in sales campaigns; follow up with customers by phone or email.
  • Accurately open, close, and maintain customer accounts according to established policies and procedures.
  • Use strong knowledge of Old Second products and services to advise new and existing customers, and begin to learn and apply knowledge of more complicated retail products such as IRAs and loans.
  • Maintain a high level of customer service to assist the branch in obtaining the highest customer service ratings, including internal survey results.
  • Utilize cross‑training as a teller to fill in as needed behind the teller line for basic transactions, including cashing checks, processing deposits and withdrawals, and balancing the drawer.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of internal compliance and regulations, completing all training annually.
  • Ensure operational accuracy and compliance with systems such as Records, TD Ops, BSA/Fraud/CTR’s, BAI, Signature Cards, CIP, and Beneficial Ownership.
  • Maintain flexibility in work schedule, including opening/closing branch and filling out at other OSB locations as needed.
Additional Responsibilities – Senior Universal Banker (Level
2)
  • Meet elevated sales and service goals through daily customer interactions and proactive sales opportunities.
  • Lead the branch by example through exceptional customer service.
Additional Responsibilities – Universal Relationship Banker (Level
3)
  • Manage a book of retail banking clients by maintaining regular contact, advising on personal banking matters, and serving as a liaison to other business lines for their client base.
  • Meet elevated sales and service goals through daily customer interactions and proactive sales opportunities.
  • Proactively connect with prospects and clients to deepen relationships and loyalty.
  • Refer other lines of business such as Wealth Management, Mortgage, and Commercial.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of complex products and support colleague training.
Qualifications – Universal Banker (Level
1)
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and one year of related experience in banking, cash handling, customer service, sales, office, or similar.
  • Become licensed with NMLS registration within 60 days and meet bank training requirements.
  • Work onsite to perform responsibilities.
Qualifications – Senior Universal Banker (Level
2)
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and two years of related experience.
  • Become licensed with NMLS registration within 60 days and meet bank training requirements.
  • Work onsite to perform responsibilities.
Qualifications – Universal Relationship Banker (Level
3)
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) and three or more years of related experience, including banking, sales, client relationship management, or consultancy.
  • Become licensed with NMLS registration within 60 days and meet bank training requirements.
  • Successfully complete Universal (Relationship) Banker Cross Training Development Plan curriculum (or equivalent).
  • Work onsite to perform responsibilities.
Competencies – All Levels
  • Excellent customer service and professional communication.
  • Commitment to product promotion, sales referrals, and cross‑selling.
  • Math and computer proficiency; aptitude for learning bank software.
  • Basic understanding of banking, check processing, credits and debits.
  • Focus and organization during high‑volume periods.
  • Reliability and dedication to follow‑through.
  • Knowledge of bank rules and regulations compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Compensation
  • Base pay: $17.50 – $22.50/hour (Level
    1)
  • Base pay: $20.10 – $26.00/hour (Level
    2)
  • Base pay: $22.00 – $28.00/hour (Level
    3)
  • Variable pay:
    Eligible to participate in Retail Incentive Plan; payment varies based on sales performance.
