POSITION SUMMARY
:
The School Social Work position is a 1.0 FTE position for the school year at Westfield Elementary School.
- Completion of a Master’s degree program in school social work.
- Evidence of professional certification as a School Social Worker in Illinois.
- Evaluate the social, emotional, behavioral and health needs of all students and participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team by conducting school social work components as part of the evaluation process.
- Identify, create, and implement social work IEP goals and services.
- Provide individual and group social work services.
- Conduct functional behavioral analysis in collaboration with the school team.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of effective behavioral intervention strategies and assisting the development and monitoring of behavioral intervention plans.
- Work collaboratively and serve as a liaison between school, families, and community resources.
- Ability to evaluate building needs and develop responsive programs.
- Understand and practice in accordance with local, state, and federal laws, statutes, and policies that relate to students and families.
- Maintain materials and accurate case records and documentation.
- Participation in the 504 development, placement, and evaluation process. Complete initial and re‑evaluation of case studies that include interviews with students, parents, and teachers.
- Participate in the building MTSS Team regarding tiered SEL support and interventions.
- Prepare and appropriately file district and state reports in a timely manner as required.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as correspondence, test results and various media.
- Effective presentation skills and the ability to respond to questions from individuals and groups.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members and students.
- Clear and concise communication skills, orally and in written form.
- Mathematical operations and concepts applicable to this position.
- Problem‑solving skills and the ability to address a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Awareness of school district requirements and Board of Education policies.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, talk, and hear.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, operate office and computer equipment, and reach with hands and arms. Repeated motions such as typing are common.
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Sustained use of computer terminals is required.
- Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds (office equipment, test packets).
- Noise level is moderate.
- Work is usually conducted indoors but may occur at any school or home site.
Our certified staff are placed on the teacher's salary schedule commensurate with experience and education. For a BA 1 in the year, the starting salary is $57,220.00. Benefits include 12 sick days, 4 personal days, board‑paid dental, 90% board‑paid HMO/PPO insurance for the employee, and 80% board‑paid coverage for family.
