Teaching Assistant needed in a K‑6 building to work with students to improve educational outcomes and to provide support within all settings so that all students can actively participate in learning settings as independently as possible.
Responsibilities- Provide relevant feedback with teacher(s) regarding the child’s progress, interest levels, or challenges.
- Assist with the organization and implementation of instructional tasks and materials as directed to support learning and the instructional process.
- Work with individuals and small groups at the teacher’s request in review, reinforcement, enrichment, and/or expansion of skills and concepts presented.
- Record observations of students’ behaviors and performance in accordance with the curriculum and the student’s IEP goals.
- Log Medicaid reimbursement services.
- Assist with various tasks such as door duty, hall duty, and recess duty.
- Participate in in‑service training programs as assigned.
- Utilize observation, proximity, and the prompting hierarchy as directed to maximize student independence.
- Assist in positive behavior management under the direction of teacher and team, implementing specific behavior intervention strategies to guide learners in using self‑control and self‑management, which may include physical management.
- Utilize confidential and personal information concerning students and staff for professional purposes only, in accordance with district procedures.
- Assist with mobility and self‑care needs of students as necessary using an individual or team approach as directed by guidelines established by PT and the educational team.
- Provide any assistance needed for successful participation in specials (i.e., art, PE, music, etc.).
- Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned.
6.5 hours per day (8:00 to 3:00 p.m.) Monday‑Friday.
