Position Summary

Licensed Social Worker Interventionist at Glenbard's Directions Program.

Qualifications
  • Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an endorsement as a School Social Worker at the high school grade level
  • Master's in Social Work from an accredited program
  • Knowledge and practices related to supporting all students' needs
  • Bilingual preferred
Reports To
  • Direct report to the Coordinator for Student Services at the Directions Program
  • Indirect report to the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services at the district administration center
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Delivery of appropriate services (direct, indirect and/or consultation) and supports to students related to the identification of academic and/or socio‑emotional needs
  • Knowledge of laws and requirements related to educational experiences for students (e.g., IDEA, ADA, Illinois Rules and Regulations, Illinois State Code)
  • Active involvement in the identification of individual eligibility, needs and appropriate accommodations and supports for students with Individual Education Plans, 504's and other individualized education plans
  • Identification of pertinent data (gathering and/or administering assessments) to identify strengths, needs and supports for eligibility under IDEA and/or Section 504
  • Monitoring and analysis of data and trends school‑wide to develop and implement student needs
  • Recommendation and implementation of goals appropriate for individual students related to student learning and success in school
  • Active participation in problem‑solving teams and child‑find teams as assigned by supervisor
  • Continuous review of research on social‑emotional and academic interventions to increase personal and school‑wide resources for students
  • Collaborate to recommend and implement effective interventions for students on an individual, medium or large group basis as part of a systemic approach to identification, assessment and monitoring of students in the educational setting
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with all staff to support academic and socio‑emotional development for all students
  • Identify, develop and implement in‑service opportunities for classroom staff as needed to support student success
  • Identify and communicate with a variety of community resources to support students, staff and families as appropriate
  • Apply consultation, direct support, intervention development, FBA/BIP development, etc. to educational needs of a wide variety of disabilities and needs
  • Seek and attend appropriate professional development opportunities to support ongoing growth
  • Maintain the highest level of ethical and professional demeanor with students and staff consistent with Sexual Harassment, Equal Educational Opportunity, Ethics, Use of Electronic Media, and other appropriate policies of the District
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills when interacting with immediate supervisors, parents, students, peers and other school‑related reference groups
  • Maintain and submit accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, District policy and administrative regulation
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy
  • Provide appropriate supervision and take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
  • Do not administer corporal punishment or touch students
