Responsibilities- Plan and instruct students on District and Illinois State Standards aligned curriculum.
- Communicate both verbally and in writing with parents and students on progress.
- Diligently enter student grade information into appropriate computer databases in a timely manner.
- Develop lesson plans and goals that meet District expectations.
- Conduct and interpret formal and informal assessments to evaluate student progress, maintain records of student work, and develop intervention strategies to ensure student success and growth.
- Meet regularly with support teachers, paraprofessionals, and specialists to discuss individual students' modifications or adaptations, ongoing learning issues, interventions or problems.
- Work collaboratively to ensure individual students' needs are met by enriching or modifying lessons, curriculum, materials, and resources as needed.
- Participate in staff development and school-improvement activities to maintain professional growth.
- Plan and incorporate best practices or new strategies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in 9-12 Science Education (Master's preferred).
- Successful experience as a secondary-level science teacher.
- Illinois Teaching Certificate appropriate for the assignment.
- State of Illinois endorsement in environmental science.
- Background in preparing students for success on the science portion of the State of Illinois ACT exam (preferred).
- Strong instructional, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum design and implementation, including appropriate instructional technologies.
- Demonstrated ability for student management and instructional delivery.
- Commitment to fostering a lifelong appreciation of science and STEM-related fields.
Salary placement is based on education and experience, pursuant to the Westmont Teachers Associations (WTA).
