Position Summary

The qualified candidate for the long‑term substitute role will perform duties and responsibilities to ensure that learning keeps moving forward during a teacher's extended absence. The position type is a long‑term substitute, details:
Temporary Licensed Staff Term 02/23/2026 – 05/22/2026 (anticipated);
License

Required:

Professional Educator License (registered in DuPage County);
Endorsement for H.S. grades 9‑12 in MATH and ESL;

Courses and Classes
  • 5 Classes + Prep + Resource
  • Courses may include:
    Algebra EL, Algebra 2 with Trig, Geometry with Trigonometry
Qualifications
  • Professional educator's license in the subject area identified (registered in DuPage County)
  • Endorsement for H.S. grades 9‑12 in MATH and ESL
  • Knowledge of best practices as it relates to supporting all students' ability to learn
  • Strong communication skills
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Instruct students based on subject‑ or level‑specific curriculum; grade assignments and maintain attendance
  • Supplement lesson plans utilizing interactive technology as appropriate
  • Supervise and ensure safety of students during classroom hours
  • Meet with Department Chair regularly and seek mentoring from other departmental staff members
  • Maintain the highest level of ethical and professional demeanor with students and staff, consistent with district policies on Sexual Harassment, Equal Educational Opportunity, Ethics, Use of Electronic Media, and other appropriate policies
  • Participate in parent‑teacher conferences and/or school‑sponsored professional development as needed
  • Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy
  • Maintain student confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as correspondence, surveys and electronic media
  • Ability to write professional communications
  • Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from individuals and groups
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community members
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in written form
  • Ability to complete mathematical operations and apply basic mathematics concepts
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to maintain current job skills as directed, especially in technology‑related activities
  • Ability to perform essential duties with an awareness of school district requirements and School Board policies
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, operate duplicating machines and computer equipment, reach with hands and arms, and repeat hand motions (e.g., typing)
  • Close vision required; ability to adjust focus and withstand long‑term use of video display terminals (VDT)
  • May occasionally lift up to 30 pounds such as reference books
  • Noise level usually moderate
  • Work pace is fast
  • Work usually conducted at one job site; occasionally required to attend meetings, conferences, or workshops at other sites
