Overview
Description:
This position provides general accounting, budgeting and administrative functions, including grant reporting and compliance.
- Operates within the Du Page Pads Core Values, which supports providing care in accordance with the Trauma Informed Policy and Practices of the Agency.
- Maintain accounts payable system; process all agency bills, expense reports and check requests; produce payments to vendors.
- Process credit card receipts from staff; reconcile receipts to statements maintaining audit policies producing payments and/or entries to accounting system.
- Adhere to office policies; maintain audit recommendations; assist with preparation of annual audit.
- Prepare monthly budget reports for program leadership.
- Assist in preparation of budgets for grant applications and budget reports for grant monitoring and compliance.
- Track grant spending, prepare monthly billing for program activities to funding sources and monitor collection of billings.
- Monitor interrelationships of grant funding sources and grant matching fund requirements.
- Complete month-end journal entries to record financial activity.
- Coordinate information for compliance audits and assist with preparation of year-end agency financial audit.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to develop and monitor budgets and data.
- Ability to design, analyze, and prepare financial reports.
- Ability to monitor expenditures and maintain data.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to details and deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software.
- Strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills with a high degree of analytical ability.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to relate positively to staff and peers outside the agency.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well independently; self-directed and internally motivated.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred.
- At least three years of experience in a financial accounting position.
- Working knowledge of fund accounting principles pertinent to nonprofit setting a plus.
- Non-profit or Government grant reporting experience a plus.
