GENERAL
PURPOSE:
Primarily responsible for assisting customers, answering phones, registering customers for programs and maintaining a pleasant environment in the assigned areas

As unsuccessful miners turned to farming, the area thrived with orchards, vegetable fields, and later, greenhouses, earning the title “Carnation City.” Incorporated in 1969, Wheat Ridge now offers a central location with easy access to Denver and the Rocky Mountains.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Responsible for Guest Service area while on duty including program registration, point of sale, telephones and facility pass sales;
* Maintains discipline in immediate front desk, and lobby areas as applicable.
* Perform public relations and may be assigned to work other control areas.
* Responsible for cash register control and explaining policies and procedures to participants including conflict resolution; assist in maintaining facilities in a clean, neat, safe manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School diploma or equivalent.
* Some computer knowledge/experience; experience in customer service and registration software is preferred
* Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
* Basic knowledge of arithmetic and spelling.
* Ability to work in a highly visible work environment and interact with customers of varying demographics.
* Ability to learn office procedures, deal tactfully and pleasantly with the public, operate a cash register and office equipment, handle money, make simple mathematical calculation, and prioritize multiple requests for service.
* Maintain positive public relations; function independently with minimal supervision; work weekends and holidays.
HOURS OF WORK, LOCATION, AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is part-time, and hours will vary according to scheduling needs. Work may be performed indoors or outdoors and thus dependent on the location, the incumbent may be exposed to hot, wet, and humid environment and all types of weather. Work will require repetitive motion; ability to read and write in English and communicate effectively orally with co-workers and the public;
requires listening skills and being able to follow directions; requires a great deal of contact with the general public and the ability to make sound judgment decisions pertaining to day-to-day problems. Work will include handling money and making correct change. Depending on location, noise and interruptions prevail; requires multi-tasking and must have ability to focus on close work, use hands to fingers, bend, crouch or stoop, reach, and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Work requires intermittent sitting, standing, and walking. The following equipment is necessary for this position: computer, cash register, calculator, multi-line phone, copier, charge card machine and other office equipment.
