Overview

Do you enjoy supporting colleagues, customers and tenants to ensure they can have an effective day in the office? If so, keep reading. As our Commercial Estates & Facilities Management Technician, you'll be using your technical experience, knowledge and skills to ensure Aster Group provides a safety‑first culture in respects of our work spaces and facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting and managing contractors (including reviewing RAMS, performing site inductions and sharing building‑specific information).
  • Fire detection testing and recording.
  • Emergency light testing.
  • Health and safety inspections.
  • Ensuring equipment and consumables are kept replenished and in usable condition.
  • Weekly inspections of operational yards and assisting in the management of waste collections.
  • L8 water management protocols.
  • PAT electrical testing and certification.
  • General small building repairs (e.g. basic carpentry, plumbing leaks, electrical works and painting).
  • Acting as an on‑site trained Fire Warden and First Aider.
  • Assisting with identifying risks and ensuring measures are implemented to eliminate or reduce them.
  • Working independently while collaborating to ensure services are aligned to policies, procedures and consistency across the portfolio.
  • Managing the work spaces in Dorset, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, with an agreed visiting pattern across Wareham, Weymouth and Ferndown; flexibility for emergencies.
  • Providing a van; a full, clean UK manual driving licence is required.
  • Supporting the team to meet joint objectives.
Qualifications

You will come to the role with previous maintenance/trade experience, bringing your skills and knowledge of general maintenance and minor repairs. You may already hold an IOSH qualification or be working towards it. You'll have a logical, practical approach to work and consider health and safety at all times. You'll be confident communicating with colleagues at all levels and comfortable using IT systems and equipment, including laptops and tablets.

You will be flexible in your approach to work and manage your workload accordingly, taking responsibility for your outputs and contributing effectively to team goals.
