Shift: Night (United States of America) – 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, every third weekend and rotating holidays.
We deliver nearly 3,300 babies yearly on the South Shore. Join our highly trained nursing team and enjoy free parking, a supportive environment, and no commute into Boston.
Prior labor and delivery experience required.
CompensationPay Range: $38.20 – $77.39
Responsibilities- Follow SSH policies for administering, transcribing, and recording medications.
- Complete medication reconciliation per SSH procedure.
- Document and manage narcotic administration and discrepancies.
- Develop, evaluate, and update individualized plan of care; document outcomes.
- Initiate admission assessment within 8 hours; identify teaching needs.
- Continue assessment/reassessment following nursing practice standards.
- Document patient care per Nursing Policy, unit standards, and disease processes.
- Assess comfort using pain scales; document interventions.
- Advocate for patients/families, seeking assistance when needed.
- Address ethical issues and collaborate with clinical team.
- Communicate plan of care via whiteboard updates each shift.
- Facilitate discharge/transfer to goal 12:00 pm; manage barriers through chain of command.
- Verify patient identification with two identifiers before invasive procedures and medication administration.
- Adhere to CDC hand hygiene, universal precautions, PPE, and hazardous material disposal.
- Maintain environmental standards to meet regulatory requirements.
- Understand roles during hospital codes and emergency preparedness.
- Earn at least 5 contact hours per year in your specialty area.
- Practice within the Mass. Nurse Practice Act; direct other licensed/unlicensed staff as assigned.
- Accept and respond constructively to feedback.
- Maintain positive workplace relationships across disciplines.
- Apply critical thinking in problem analysis and solution selection.
- Keep abreast of policy and procedure changes.
- Use Lotus Notes for email and learning management.
- Use department‑specific software applications.
- Understand how to operate in downtime scenarios.
- Operate within legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.
- Comply with applicable policies and procedures.
- Protect patient privacy and security per SSH privacy program.
- Escalate potential compliance issues to appropriate supervisory staff.
- Complete mandatory compliance, privacy, and security education.
- Show respect for patient and family values and preferences.
- Identify patients/families as important care team members.
- Collaborate with families to plan, implement, and evaluate care.
- Encourage family presence at all times per patient preference.
- Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Adapt care to individual needs.
- Use interpreter services and online resources when needed.
Preferred Experience
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (preferred).
• Previous Acute Care RN experience preferred.

• 12‑hour night shift: 7:00 pm – 7:30 am, rotating third weekends & holidays.
