VCA South Shore (Weymouth), a 24-hour emergency and specialty veterinary hospital, is seeking an Instrument Sterilization Coordinator to oversee all aspects of our central processing function for Surgery and support sterile processing needs across the hospital.
The Instrument Sterilization Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, sterility, and workflow efficiency for surgical and procedural equipment. This role supports our specialty surgery service as well as our emergency and general practice teams. You will manage the full life cycle of instrument processing and ensure our clinical teams have what they need, when they need it.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee central processing operations, including cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and storage of surgical instruments and equipment.
- Manage daily workflow to ensure timely turnaround of surgical packs and procedural trays.
- Maintain all sterile processing equipment, including autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners; coordinate maintenance, repair, and quality assurances.
- Monitor inventory of surgical instruments, sterile supplies, and consumables; collaborate with Surgery leadership on ordering and replacement.
- Uphold strict adherence to infection control protocols, sterile processing standards, and hospital policies.
- Train and mentor team members on proper handling, decontamination, and sterilization procedures.
- Partner closely with surgeons, surgery technicians, and hospital leadership to optimize efficiency and support patient-centered care.
- Maintain accurate documentation, logs, biological and chemical indicator tracking, and regulatory compliance.
- Previous experience in veterinary or human medical sterile processing strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with autoclaves, ultrasonic units, wrapping techniques, and instrument care.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to prioritize during high-volume caseloads.
- Comfort working in a highly collaborative environment with multiple departments.

- Shifts:
6-, 8-, or 10-hour shifts available - Some weekends and holidays required
- Pay range: $22.00–$26.00 /hr per based on experience
