Location:
Hybrid (3 days in office) Job Type: Permanent Join a premium retail organisation known for its design-led products, quality craftsmanship, and modern lifestyle appeal. We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Financial Controller to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and provide practical financial insight to support the leadership team. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working at both operational and strategic levels and has a strong understanding of inventory-driven businesses and seasonal trading patterns.
Day-to-day of the role:
Day-to-Day Finance (Hands-On) Oversee and actively manage accounts payable and receivable. Approve and process invoices, including resolving complex queries. Reconcile customer receipts across multiple payment platforms. Process and reconcile corporate credit card statements. Reporting & Analysis Produce monthly management accounts with commentary and act as the main point of contact for queries. Perform all aspects of the month-end process including journals, P&L preparation, variance analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Prepare weekly cash flow analysis and forecasts. Support budgeting and forecasting activities. Analyse margins and cost of sales to support effective commercial decision-making. Provide ad-hoc financial analysis for pricing, purchasing, and sales decisions. Compliance & Controls Oversee the output of external accountants including outsourced financial services. Act as main point of contact for annual statutory accounts preparation. Manage regulatory submissions including VAT and other compliance reporting.
Required
Skills & Qualifications 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role, ideally within a retail or wholesale environment. Ability to work strategically while remaining hands-on. Strong commercial mindset with excellent attention to detail. University degree and accounting qualification (CIMA / ACCA or equivalent preferred). Strong PC literacy and advanced Excel skills.
