Clark Wood are looking for an experienced Bookkeeping Manager to join a growing team of chartered accountants in Taunton. This is a hands-on role overseeing day-to-day bookkeeping across a varied portfolio of clients, while supporting and supervising a small bookkeeping team to ensure work is delivered accurately and on time.

You will play a key role in maintaining high standards, assisting with month-end and year-end processes, and ensuring all financial records are compliant with HMRC requirements.

Key Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping for a diverse client portfolio Review and manage work produced by a small bookkeeping team Use Xero and Quick Books to maintain accurate financial records Prepare and submit VAT and CIS returns Assist with month-end and year-end procedures Liaise with managers and clients as required Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and internal deadlines What We’re Looking For Minimum of 2 years’ bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accountancy practice or multi-client environment Strong working knowledge of Xero (essential)

Experience with Quick Books (advantageous) Proven experience preparing VAT and CIS returns Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills Confident working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities Comfortable supporting or leading a small team Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Qualifications & Skills AAT Level 3 (or higher), or equivalent experience (desirable but not essential) Good Excel skills A professional, accurate, and methodical approach Commitment to integrity and ongoing professional development What's On Offer?
