You’ll take responsibility for leading end‑to‑end audit engagements and preparing high‑quality financial statements for a portfolio of clients. This is an excellent role for someone who enjoys client interaction, technical challenge and guiding junior team members.
Key Responsibilities- Lead audit engagements from planning to completion and report directly to managers/partners
- Supervise, support and review work of junior auditors, offering mentoring and feedback
- Identify audit issues early and communicate recommendations to clients and senior management
- Prepare financial statements from trial balance, ensuring full compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS
- Build strong client relationships and ensure timely delivery of audit and accounts work
- Contribute to audit strategy, risk assessment and overall engagement planning
- Assist in implementing new audit tools, including AI‑driven solutions
- Maintain accurate working papers, timesheets and ensure work meets internal quality standards and deadlines
- ACCA/ACA part‑qualified or newly qualified
- Minimum 3 years’ audit experience within an accountancy practice
- Confident leading audits independently across multiple clients
- Solid technical knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS and auditing standards
- Experience preparing financial statements from trial balance
- Strong Excel skills (including formulas and functions)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with clients at all levels
- Highly organised, detail‑focused and able to manage deadlines without close supervision
- Experience auditing or preparing consolidated financial statements
- Exposure to modern audit software or AI‑enhanced audit tools
