System Engineer – Rotors and Controls

Job Description

As part of Leonardo, Kopter currently develops the AW09, a next generation single-engine helicopter that offers the largest cabin and cargo hold in its category, increased modularity and modern electronic systems. The AW09 delivers latest safety standards as well as more performance and comfort at low operating costs.

Kopter is set to become Leonardo’s Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and an incubator of new technologies, contributing to the development of hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. Kopter’s 320 talented team members are primarily based in Switzerland, near Zurich and in Mollis (Canton of Glarus).

• Responsible for designing and developing parts and sub-assemblies according to the given requirements
• Prepare parts and assemblies drawings, reporting all the information that is needed to perform a correct production and installation
• Prepare technical specification for vendor components
• Interact and follow the vendors during design and development
• Participate in engineering and qualification testing activities, preparing the relative test plans and reports
• Follow the prototypes activities, performing inspections and attending system and sub-systems assembly and installation
• Prepare technical documentation

• Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in the aerospace industry is preferred
• Experience in Design and development of complex mechanical systems. Experience in rotorheads and flight controls is preferred
• Experience in the helicopter industry an asset
• Good knowledge of CAD software, Siemens NX is preferred
• Self-driven and proactive
• Analytic and problem solving attitude
• English, minimum B2 (verbal & written)
