Camp Chandler - Horseback Director

Overview

For nearly 100 years, YMCA Camp Chandler has influenced the lives of thousands of young men and women. As horseback director, you will teach and oversee the horseback riding program, with the daily ambiance of hay and leather as part of the role.

• Take care of 6 to 7 horses and teach children ages 6 to 15 to ride.
• Assist in other camp duties as needed.
• Develop and plan our riding program for kids of all experience levels, including seven sessions of the Wrangler program (a specialty riding camp for week-long campers).
• Teach children ages 6–15 to ride, develop curriculum, supervise roughly 8 wranglers per week, maintain safety standards, and oversee upkeep of areas and equipment, including feed and care of all horses.
• Non-cabin staff position.
• CHA certification is a plus.

• You must be highly motivated and reliable. Must be 18 years old or older.
• Equestrian teaching experience is required.
• CHA certification is a plus.
• Ideal candidates have experience working with children and horses, are enthusiastic, and have a love for the outdoors.
