Wethersfield High School is seeking a motivated and dedicated bilingual (Spanish/English) individual to serve as an English Learners (EL) Tutor. This position is scheduled Monday through Friday for 5.75 hours per day (28.75 hours per week).

The EL Tutor plays an essential role in supporting English Learners in developing language proficiency and achieving academic success. The successful candidate will help provide a comprehensive and effective educational experience that enables students to grow in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while confidently participating in both academic and social settings.

Typical duties for the EL Tutor include:

* Provide English Learner instruction and academic support aligned with the EL curriculum;

* Deliver one-on-one instruction, small-group support, and in-class (push-in) assistance;

* Monitor student progress and maintain accurate performance data for review with the EL Coordinator;

* Offer consistent positive feedback and encouragement to support student growth;

* Foster an inclusive, culturally responsive learning environment that respects diverse backgrounds and individual needs;

* Collaborate with classroom teachers to support student achievement;

* Assist with LAS and other standardized testing administration;

* Participate in professional development related to EL instruction and instructional materials;

* All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

* Hold minimum of an Associates' Degree

* Teacher certification is preferred, but not required

* Bilingual (Spanish/English);

* Ability to work with students in a classroom, small group, and/or one-on-one environment

* Ability to follow coordinator/teacher/staff directions with respect to instruction, assessment, and programming

* Strong communication skills

* Computer software skills such as:
Word, Excel, Google Apps, and comfort with assorted web-based software programs

* Ability to work in a team environment

* Enthusiasm for helping children

* Willingness to learn new skills and demonstrate a growth mindset

* Respectful attitude

* Ability to manage plans and drive positive results

* Patience, flexibility and adaptability
