Ever wanted to be the person the business turns to when tax really matters? This is a chance to step into a genuinely influential in‑house tax role with real ownership and visibility across the group.

You’ll be joining a UK market leader in managing hard to handle waste, operating complex and highly regulated sites nationwide. With growth plans well underway, the finance team is being strengthened with the hire of a Tax Manager to take ownership of tax across the group.

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will be the go‑to contact for all tax matters, working closely with finance, commercial teams, external advisers and HMRC. A key part of the role is acting as the internal expert on Landfill Tax, supporting commercial decision‑making and ensuring compliance across the business.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and submitting Landfill Tax, Corporation Tax, VAT and PAYE returns
• Owning tax reporting, forecasting and balance sheet reconciliations
• Providing guidance and training to the business on Landfill Tax treatment and risk
• Leading audits, HMRC enquiries and relationships with external tax advisers
• Managing tax accounting, including deferred tax
• Reviewing processes, audit trails and maintaining the tax risk register

This role would suit an up‑and‑coming Tax Manager who is ready to step into a broader and more visible in‑house position within a commercial environment.

You will likely be:

• ACA, ACCA or CTA qualified (or equivalent)
• From practice or an in‑house role with strong UK tax exposure
• Confident with Corporation Tax in a corporate setting
  
  Comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels
• Hands‑on, organised and detail‑focused
