Assistant Tennis Instructor – Summer 2026

The Town of Westwood seeks qualified and enthusiastic candidates for the part-time, seasonal position of Assistant Tennis Instructor (ATI) with the Westwood Recreation Department. The ATI will support the Tennis Professional in the implementation of a variety of tennis activities geared for participants ages 5-13 in a group or private setting. The ATI will endeavor to provide high quality recreational experiences for participants that focus on the Westwood Recreation Department core values of safety, fun, responsibility and respect.

Responsibilities and duties include the following:

  • Assist the Tennis Professional with carrying out a variety of tennis-related games, lessons and activities for participants in groups of varying ages.
  • Encourage sportsmanship, camaraderie and courtesy on the court.
  • Provide and maintain a safe environment indoors and outdoors for participants while enforcing all health and safety regulations.
  • Be mindful of all concerns on the court and relate them to the Tennis Professional and Program Manager.
  • Take an active part in the general safety and skill development of participants in their tennis class.

Qualifications and experience: Must have recent experience playing tennis and possess a working knowledge of the game and skills. A minimum of 2 years of experience working with children preferred. Group supervision of children is required. Ability to work with children of varying ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Excellent communication skills essential.

Additional qualifications: First Aid and CPR certifications are required within the first 90 days of work.

Schedule requirements: June 29-August 14, Monday-Friday from 7:30am-12:30pm for group lessons, and 3:00pm-4:30pm for camp lessons.

Salary: This is a seasonal, non-benefit position, with a starting hourly rate between $15.00 -$17.75 depending on experience and certifications.
