Floral Clerk

Receive and stock a variety of floral merchandise on shelves and displays in a careful, neat, and expedient manner. Ensure all products are fresh, rotated, well stocked, and visually appealing while maintaining excellent customer service.

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Self‑motivated and able to work independently.
• Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English, with the ability to follow instructions.
• Flexible to work a schedule based on the business needs of the store location.

• Handle each customer transaction in a courteous, friendly manner and go out of your way to satisfy any request for assistance.
• Commit to the “Golden Rule” while working with all associates to build a strong floral team.
• Maintain the highest associate morale in the industry by working in a respectful, supportive, and team‑oriented style (RSTO).
• Be knowledgeable about floral products, offer suggestions for plant care and floral arrangements, and locate information when not readily available.
• Place customer special orders in person and over the phone.
• Design and assemble floral arrangements for all occasions, gift‑wrap bouquets, and record all flowers used on the inventory sheet.
• Create arrangement/plant upgrade bows for the season.
• Control shrink by keeping accurate records of product discarded, lost, or damaged, minimizing waste.
• Order, receive, process (under 18 restrictions apply), display, rotate, and store product deliveries to assure quality control.
• Keep all floral merchandise rotated in accordance with company policy, using the oldest products first (first in, first out).
• Ensure all products are accurately priced and scan correctly at the register.
• Maintain a clean and organized back room, supply area, coolers, and display cases.
• Perform plant care maintenance for both indoor and outdoor products (watering, trimming foliage and blooms on potted plants, etc.).
• Change water for cut flowers on scheduled days.
• Present a favorable impression in dress, personal hygiene, and business attitude.
• Practice the “Cleaner’s Creed” and proper sanitation procedures.
• Exercise proper safety practices when lifting or moving product, and operate department equipment and tools (under 18 restrictions apply).
• Keep sales and work area mopped, swept, clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards; report hazards to management.

• Assist with the daily inventory.
• Inflate balloons and hang up signs.
• Decorate the department to fit the current season.
• Monitor the cooler and display cases for correct temperature to assure product quality.
• Notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized markdowns, or property defacement.
• Complete onboarding e‑learnings and checklist within 30 days of hire.
• Perform other duties assigned by management.

Sitting and crawling; pushing and pulling up to 250 lbs, lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing up to 8 feet, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching occasionally; walking on tile or concrete, carrying up to 50 lbs, bending, and reaching at waist or overhead frequently; standing on tile or concrete, handling, feeling, talking, seeing, hearing, and smelling continuously.

Exposure to toxic materials (as per material safety data sheet) and hazardous cleaning solutions (never); exposure to loud noise, slippery or cluttered floor surface, hazardous equipment (mechanical moving parts), contact with sharp objects or skin irritants, nuisance dust, fumes, and sprays occasionally; twisting or back and neck incidents frequently.

The hiring range for this position is $15.00 - $17.90 per hour.
