Job DescriptionThe Role: Westwood High School seeks a full-time guidance counselor to join our caring and innovative community for the school year. Counselors are integral to shaping students’ high school experiences and serve as trusted advocates and advisors to staff, families, and students grades 9 through age 22. This role centers on building meaningful relationships, helping students recognize their strengths, and supporting them in achieving personal growth, academic success, and post‑secondary opportunities that are the “right fit.”
As a counselor, you will collaborate closely with educators, families, and the broader community to ensure every student feels valued, supported, and prepared for the future.

- Current Massachusetts School Counseling License, grades 5‑12
- Master’s Degree Required
- Provide individual and group counseling that supports students’ academic, social‑emotional, and career development
- Establish a culture of care and high expectations, demonstrating respect and concern for all students
- Design and deliver guidance curriculum lessons aligned with MA curriculum frameworks and district expectations, fostering self‑awareness, resilience, and decision‑making skills
- Use a variety of counseling strategies, interventions, and resources to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Support students in goal setting, course planning, and post‑secondary preparation, including college, career, and other pathways
- Assess student growth and needs using self‑reflection tools, surveys, and other appropriate measures; use data to inform counseling services
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to develop and implement interventions, enrichment opportunities, and student support strategies
- Integrate social‑emotional learning, culturally responsive practices, and equity‑driven approaches into all counseling services
