Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong Director of Accounting to lead all aspects of technical accounting, including revenue recognition. This role owns revenue accounting policy, reviews complex contracts, and ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP across multiple performance obligations and principal vs. agent considerations. You’ll partner closely with sales, accounting, and audit teams to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting and proper accounting treatment.
Responsibilities- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership, lenders, and the board
- Lead consolidated financial statement preparation, including footnotes, in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Research, document, and implement technical accounting guidance, including new pronouncements
- Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations, ensuring strong internal controls
- Support acquisitions, including purchase accounting and opening balance sheet activities
- Identify and implement process improvements
- Partner with senior accounting leadership on strategic and ad hoc projects
- Supervise, mentor, and develop team members
- Plan, assign, and review work while supporting performance management and issue resolution
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA preferred
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting/audit experience
- Strong background in technical accounting (revenue, leases, stock compensation, equity method, etc.)
- Experience writing technical accounting memos, policies, and SOPs
- Knowledge of internal controls and SOX compliance preferred
- Experience in multi-entity or corporate environments a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced Excel skills and ERP system experience
