Are you an ambitious and inspirational Head of Drama looking for a leadership opportunity at an Ofsted ‘Good’ school in Weston-super-Mare?

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate Head of Drama to lead and develop Drama provision within a high-achieving secondary school in Weston-super-Mare, starting in February or April 2026.

We are seeking a committed and creative Head of Drama to provide strong leadership for the department, inspire high-quality teaching and learning, and promote Drama as a vibrant and valued subject across the school. The successful candidate will combine excellent subject knowledge with the ability to motivate students and support colleagues to achieve outstanding outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Drama department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.

  • Develop and implement an engaging, ambitious Drama curriculum across KS3–KS4 (and KS5 where applicable).

  • Support, mentor, and inspire colleagues within the department.

  • Monitor student progress, assessment, and outcomes to drive continuous improvement.

  • Promote extracurricular Drama activities, including productions and performances.

  • Contribute to the wider life, culture, and leadership of the school.

Essential Requirements
  • A degree in Drama or a related subject.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE.

  • Proven experience teaching Drama at secondary level.

  • Evidence of leadership or readiness to step into a middle leadership role.

  • A passion for Drama and a commitment to student success.
