Special Needs Teaching Assistant

Zen Educate is seeking compassionate and resilient Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to join a specialized school in the North Somerset/Weston-Super-Mare area.

We are looking for dedicated individuals for full-time and part-time roles to support children and young people with a range of complex learning needs.

The Role:

Specialist Support for Complex Needs

You will be working in a well-established specialist environment that caters to pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). The school is highly regarded for its holistic approach, focusing on communication, independence, and sensory development.

Key Responsibilities:

* Individualised Support:
Working 1:1 or in small groups to help students engage with their learning and social activities.

* Communication Aid:
Supporting pupils using various communication tools such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC devices.

* Personal Care & Well-being:
Assisting with personal care, mobility, and feeding where required, ensuring the dignity and safety of all pupils.

* Behaviour Management:
Utilising positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques to support students with complex emotional needs.

* Teamwork:
Working alongside a multi-disciplinary team of teachers, therapists, and specialists.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for candidates who are genuinely passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with additional needs:

* Relevant

Experience:

Previous experience working with children or adults with ASD, SLD, or complex needs (this could be in a school, care, or community setting).

* Communication

Skills:

Knowledge of Makaton or PECS is a significant advantage.

* Personal Attributes:
You must be patient, physically active, and have a "can-do" attitude.

* Availability:
