We are seeking a Cost Accountant for County Prestress & Precast, LLC in Westmont, IL.
Job SummaryThe Cost Accountant analyzes, tracks, and reports manufacturing costs to support financial accuracy and operational efficiency. This role collaborates with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to provide cost insights, investigate variances, support budgeting and forecasting, and recommend process improvements. The position ensures GAAP-compliant cost accounting practices and delivers data-driven information to help optimize profitability.
Job Duties- Perform job cost accounting for specific product lines and special projects.
- Track and analyze labor, material, and overhead costs.
- Prepare and post journal entries in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Substantiate financial transactions through communication and collaboration with internal team members.
- Maintain financial security by adhering to internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Assist with special projects and additional accounting duties as assigned by the Divisional Controller.
- Partner and collaborate with division leaders to support financial decision-making.
- Primarily an inside working environment
- Occasional outside exposure
- Standard business hours with frequent overtime
- Occasional travel
- Work involves attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and managing interruptions in a fast-paced environment.
- Moderate office noise level; frequent independent work with periodic collaboration.
- Frequently sitting, walking, talking, and hearing
- Occasional standing, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and filing
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. occasionally
- Frequent keyboard use and repetitive motions
- Close and color vision used consistently, no special vision requirements beyond standard office tasks
- Associate degree in Accounting required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred - 2–4 years of accounting experience
- Prior experience in job costing or cost accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Positive, team-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of ERP or financial systems
- Familiarity with process improvement or data analytics tools
