This part-time position has a starting salary of $35.00 per hour.

Job Summary

Provide athletic training services from pre-season through the end of the competitive seasons and maintain the requirements of athletic training for intercollegiate teams. This position reports to the Athletic Director.

Essential Job Functions
  • Responsible for prevention, emergency care, first aid, evaluation, and rehabilitation of injuries to student-athletes
  • Consultant to coaching staff on conditioning, nutrition, and protective equipment
  • Assist with the prevention of injuries including education for athletes, identifying factors that put athletes at risk, correcting deficiencies in athletes as deemed necessary, as well as taping and bracing
  • Develop, supervise, evaluate, and modify individual exercise programs for athletes
  • Cover team practices allowing access to the athletic training room
  • Cover sporting events as required
  • Establish a positive learning environment that promotes a high level of achievement for all students/athletes
  • Prepare and maintain reports/records as required
  • Collect and reach out to students for outstanding medical clearance paperwork
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements To Perform Work
  • Bachelor’s degree in athletic training, Sports Medicine or related field
  • One – three years hands on or clinical experience as an athletic trainer (preferably NJCAA or NCAA level)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a broad and diverse population of students, families, peers, and colleagues
  • Knowledge and training in first aid procedures for handling athletic-related injuries.
  • Must be a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and be licensed in Maryland as an Athletic Trainer (LAT).

  • Master’s Degree

Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

  • Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
  • Visual Acuity – Ability to perceive or detect surroundings
  • Mental Acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand, and convey subject matter
  • Repetitive motion (i.e., keyboarding)
  • Stand/sit/walk/able to move or traverse from one area to another
Work Environment

Training facility, outdoors as required for athletic practices/events. Evenings and weekends may be required for athletic events. Estimate 20-29 hours per week. Observance of traffic laws when/if driving a college vehicle.

College campus, direct contact with students, staff, faculty and the general public in classrooms, common areas, offices, and campus environments. Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms. Use of safe workplace practices with office equipment; computers for data entry and word processing with some highly technical applications, complex software and new technology systems;

avoidance of trips and falls; observance of fire and building safety regulations and College policies; and observance of traffic laws when/if driving College vehicles.
