Are you ready to support the educational mission of the Carroll County Farm Museum? As a Museum Docent, you will conduct tours in period attire. Using role play and storytelling techniques, you will present the life of a rural farm family in the 19th Century as well as a brief synopsis of Carroll County Almshouse history. You will use your specialized knowledge of 19th Century rural farm life, the Gilded Age lifestyle, and Carroll County history from the 1850s to early 1900s to create an engaging educational experience for visitors.
EssentialDuties
- Conduct guided tours of the farmhouse for groups of students and adults.
- Provide visitors with an engaging educational experience using role play and storytelling techniques.
- Maintain knowledge of both permanent and temporary special exhibits.
- Support Curator with installing and maintaining exhibits. Assist with exhibit research, as needed
- Assist students and teachers with lessons for educational programs and camps.
- Follow all established safety rules and regulations. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
- Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.
- Invite collaboration and seek learning opportunities. Proactively assist peers to create a supportive work environment.

- A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum requirement.
- Requires criminal background check as condition of employment.
- Flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Occasional exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions.
- Frequent physical activity: standing/walking, pushing/pulling, bending, reaching, lifting and carrying, climbing steps, squatting, stooping, and related activities.
