Are you ready for an exciting summer job at Piney Run Park? As an Assistant Canoe/Kayak Instructor for Carroll County, you will engage in training and supervising campers exploring the waters. We are looking for a collaborative nature enthusiast to help care for the equipment and ensure the safety of the park. You will help the Canoe/Kayak Instructor develop and lead memorable games and activities.
EssentialDuties
- Aid Canoe/Kayak Instructor in leading games, events, and activities to reinforce canoeing skills.
- Assist Canoe/Kayak Instructor with camper canoeing orientations.
- Help maintain all canoe and kayak equipment.
- Exercise the highest standard of canoeing safety at all times.
- Attend camp staff orientation and participate in scheduled staff meetings.
- Uphold all park, camp and boathouse policies and regulations.
- Complete assigned work in a timely fashion. Accept feedback.
- Demonstrate an ability to collaborate and a willingness to learn. Participate in a supportive work environment.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
- Up to one year of related experience
- A comparable amount of education and experience may be substituted for the minimum
- American Canoe Association (ACA) Essentials of Canoe Touring Skills Course (or must obtain prior to first day of camp)
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course or approved equivalent (or must obtain prior to first day of camp)
- CPR, AED, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certification (or must obtain prior to first day of camp)
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Requires criminal background check as condition of employment.
- Work schedule includes weekends and holidays.
- Frequent exposure to potentially adverse weather conditions.
- Frequent physical activity: lifting and carrying over 50lbs, climbing ladders and steps, standing/walking, pushing/pulling, bending, reaching, squatting, stooping, and related activities.
- Must wear appropriate PPE as required.
