Registered Nurse - Float Pool

Location: Carroll Hospital, Westminster, MD
Shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM | 12‑hour shifts | Part‑Time | On‑Site
Department: Float Pool

Carroll Hospital is seeking a skilled and adaptable Registered Nurse to join our Float Pool team
. This is a premium opportunity for an experienced nurse looking to work across a variety of inpatient units. The Float Pool RN will be expected to provide high‑quality, evidence‑based care while floating between Med‑Surg, IMC, PCU, CCU, and the Emergency Department based on staffing needs.

Clinical Practice:

• Utilize sound clinical reasoning, critical thinking, and decision‑making
• Apply evidence‑based practice and situational learning in patient care
• Accurately assess and document patient condition, pain, and comfort measures
• Develop individualized plans of care, discharge planning, and educational support

Collaboration & Communication:

• Work closely with multi‑disciplinary teams to coordinate and integrate patient care
• Participate in daily team huddles, patient care discussions, and team meetings
• Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure timely follow‑up
• Provide patient and family education to support informed decision‑making

Professionalism & Innovation:

• Stay current with nursing best practices, research, and hospital protocols
• Engage in quality improvement efforts and peer review
• Demonstrate customer service excellence and uphold hospital standards
• Follow standard algorithms, protocols, and safety policies across all units

Patient Safety &

Experience:

• Perform hourly rounding and proactive patient engagement
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and families
• Be aware of and work toward the reduction of Nurse Sensitive Indicators (NSIs)

• Active RN license with the Maryland Board of Nursing (or compact state eligibility)
• AHA BLS Provider certification – Required
• AHA ACLS certification – Required
• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in an IMC or higher‑acuity care setting
• Flexibility and comfort working across multiple inpatient units
