Transmission Line Civil Engineering Summer Intern – 2026
Tri-State is an electric power utility providing electricity to rural electric cooperatives. We have a Transmission Line Civil Engineering Summer Intern opportunity for 2026. Students who have successfully completed two (2) or more years of undergraduate study towards a degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university are encouraged to apply. Seniors who will be graduating in December or are planning to attend graduate school in the Fall are also encouraged to apply.
This summer position offers students a hands on opportunity to see how electric utilities design and maintain transmission power lines
Responsibilities: The intern will assist in gathering structure information for asset integration, and gain experience with the transmission industry standard program PLS-CADD by generating standard files and evaluating existing PLS-CADD models.
Projects may include the following:
- Transmission Asset Integration
- PLS-CADD Standard Library creation
Job Requirements: Attention to detail, strong communication, and strong work ethic.
PLS-CADD experience is preferred, but not necessary.
Duration and Work Schedule
The duration of the summer internship will be from about the end of May until the end of August.
The work schedule includes Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., forty hours per week. There is a possibility of telecommuting with 40% of the work week.
Tri-State offers a competitive pay rate for this position. The position is based at Tri-State’s Headquarters at 1100 W. 116 th Avenue, Westminster, CO 80234.
