The Summer Camp Leader assists with the design, development, and implementation of an exciting, safe, and fun-filled experience for participants in the Youth and Teen program. This position requires a minimum of 455 hours of documented work or volunteer experience with school‑age children, ages 5 to 14. This position works at one of the City’s two campsites:
City Park Recreation Center or Countryside Recreation Center. Camp Leaders are scheduled to work between 38 and 40 hours per week between the hours of 6:45 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Staff cannot take more than five (5) days of time off during Camp.

The full salary range for this position is stated above. The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate.

Job Specific – Every employee in this position must be able to:

Mandatory staff training (May 15, May 16, and May 26 through May 30) is designed to help develop staff in these and other areas.
- Assists in the planning and organizing of activities in the areas of crafts, sports, games, special events, and field trips with other camp leaders
- Provides a safe environment for the participants
- Complies with licensing regulations
- Administers basic first aid
- Helps to maintain equipment and supplies
- Maintain regular and punctual submission of time sheets
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance
- Attends all staff meetings
- Provides additional assistance to children with special needs
- Drives a golf cart (City Park location only)
Incumbent is accountable for all duties of this job, and other projects and responsibilities may be added at the City’s discretion.
