Position Description
The Assistant Construction Manager (ACM) is the Company’s "management representative" and is responsible for the safe completion of projects within budget, on schedule, to the Company’s quality standards, and to the customer’s satisfaction. The ACM initiates required action to achieve these objectives and ensures all project activities are consistent with contract documents and Company policies. Duties will vary as required to support the project team.
PositionQualifications
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business preferred.
- Professional accreditations desirable.
- 7+ years’ experience in construction related field required.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Excellent knowledge of construction methods, facilities operations, and building systems.
- Familiarity with strategic planning.
- Collaborative work in mobile environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Excel, Project, Word, SharePoint) and Adobe Suite.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- High‑performance team member.
- Ensure safety is incorporated into job planning and execution; promote accountability and enforce safety policies.
- Pre‑job planning and mobilization.
- Purchasing responsibility.
- Scheduling.
- Customer/Owner relations – regular visits and open communication.
- Submittals – timely review and processing with accurate tracking.
- Expediting vendors and subcontractors.
- Progress payments to owner and.
- Change orders and estimates.
- Cost reports – weekly and monthly review of job cost reports and preparation of monthly analysis.
- Analyze cost and schedule problems and initiate corrective alternatives.
- Quality control and commissioning – enforce quality standards, attend meetings, and implement commissioning manual.
- Personnel evaluation, development, and retention; recruiting salaried personnel.
- Stay current with industry best practices and new technology.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Regional Construction Manager.
- Heavy work – exert up to 100 lb occasionally, 50 lb frequently, or 20 lb constantly to move objects.
- Walking, kneeling, sitting, crouching, reaching, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, standing, and typing – frequency varies by workflow.
- Walking – frequently move about the jobsite.
- Office – use computer or tablet, calculator, and phone.
- Communicate with employees and stakeholders regarding office and field administration.
- Read written communications and view mail submissions; read blueprints and verify field measurements.
- Climbing – ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps at various heights.
- Balancing – maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling.
- Stooping – bend body downward and forward by the spine at waist.
- Reaching – extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction for various lengths of time.
- Grasping – apply pressure to an object with fingers and palm regularly.
- Vehicle operation – certified and appropriate visual acuity.
- Exposure – high and low temperatures; noisy environment and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
