Behavioral Health Technician (Full-Time Regular)
SHIFT: 4/10-hour shifts (8a-6:30p, 12p-10:30p, 10p-8:30a), may vary
LOCATION:
Westminster, CA
- Under the supervision of the Program Director, supervise clients to ensure a physically and emotionally safe environment.
- Provide an environment for clients with social, behavioral, academic, and/or emotional issues that allows progress toward treatment goals, emotional growth, academic success, and positive relationships.
- Assist new clients in becoming acclimated to the Benchmark Transitions program.
- Supervise and monitor clients during regular business hours.
- Take attendance and support life skills, educational and process groups, participations on field trips or excursions, therapeutic groups and workshops.
- Manage client move‑ins and moves, help with shopping and menu planning, food preparation, and monitor residence housekeeping needs.
- Assist in providing transportation of clients as directed.
- Under the direction of Case Managers, enforce limits for participant behavior; administer consequences, privileges, and personal coaching.
- Perform other assignments or duties as required and/or requested.
- Take full responsibility for client care on shifts and handle all medical emergencies under the supervision of the Program Director, Therapist, or Medical Director.
- Support clients through recovery per doctors’ orders, including education about their condition.
- Provide detailed and accurate clinical reporting of client conditions, status, and proper clinical actions, including detoxification protocols and medication management/self‑administration protocols.
- Maintain strong attention to detail, make sound decisions, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in a Joint Commission compliant setting such as a hospital, medical, or detox/recovery environment.
- Ability to read and understand English.
- Graduate of an accredited certification program for Substance Use Disorders.
- Current valid certification, minimum of RADT.
- Current valid CPR and First Aid certificate.
- Valid California driver’s license and liability insurance if driving a personal vehicle on duty.
- Capable of standing, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching for performing job duties such as handling materials, filing, and lifting.
- Routine lifting and moving items weighing up to twenty‑five pounds; must ask for assistance and use a dolly or cart for heavy items.
- Adequate vision, hearing, manual dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.
- Experience in the self‑administration medication process.
- Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of withdrawal, seizures, pain, high anxiety, low and high blood sugars, and critically dangerous medical emergencies.
- Ability to perform animal care duties.
- Ability to perform cooking and cleaning duties.
- Recovering individuals must have a minimum of two years clean, sober, and abstinent to be considered for employment.
