The Infection Control Coordinator specializes in identifying, controlling, and preventing outbreaks of infection. This position will assist in modifying treatment regimens to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of residents. The Infection Control nurse provides essential orientation for all new staff, coordinates continuing education, and plans and delivers facility‑wide in‑service programs for current employees. • Develop and revise infection control policies and procedures.
• Investigate suspected outbreaks of infection.
• Provide consultation on infection risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies.
• Keep abreast of trends and developments in extended‑care facility patient‑care techniques; follow federal and state skilled nursing facility regulations.
• Coordinate and present general facility new‑hire orientation programs to all new employees.
• Develop and deliver clinical orientation and training for new nursing team members, including classroom training on specific nursing policies, procedures, and techniques; observe, assist, and assess new team members’ performance; and ensure new members are equipped with the skills necessary to be successful in their new roles.
• Research, design, and implement in‑service programs on topics requested to reinforce operational policies/procedures, introduce new techniques, and/or identified areas of deficiency.

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
• License to practice as an RN in the State of Michigan; current CPR certification.
• 3‑5 years of previous experience as a registered nurse in an acute or extended‑care or long‑term‑care facility with at least six months of concurrent experience involving employee education.
• Strong facilitation and mentoring skills to present training and education in a positive, supportive, and concise manner.
• Excellent customer‑service skills with a commitment to delivering passionate, innovative care.
• Team player who is dedicated to supporting teammates and getting the job done.
• Proficiency in monitoring, assessment, and communication related to infection prevention and control.

Certifications required: CPR‑BLS. Licensure required: RN (Registered Nurse).
