Overview

Presbyterian Villages of Michigan, a premier senior living services non-profit organization, has a great opportunity to join our team at The Village of Westland as a Universal Worker. We invite you to help us create new possibilities in quality living for the seniors we serve. We are hiring Part-time on the Midnight shift (10:15pm - 6:30am), approximately 20 hours per week.

Perform duties to maintain residents' health and well-being by assisting with daily activities such as grooming, eating, dressing, and bathing. Also, maintain cleanliness of resident rooms and common areas, including the kitchen and laundry. Assist the food service department with plating, serving, and cleaning up after meals.

Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with daily activities like grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility exercises, following established procedures.
  • Document resident progress and services in charts; report changes to supervisors.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment by changing linens, cleaning rooms, and tidying common areas.
  • Monitor vital signs and medications under nurse supervision.
  • Collect specimens following safety protocols.
  • Clean and maintain all areas, including floors, furniture, fixtures, and equipment, ensuring health standards are met.
  • Manage laundry operations, including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and inventory.
  • Assist in food service tasks: preparing, serving, and cleaning up meals; delivering food to residents; handling kitchen supplies.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures, including proper handling of chemicals and food storage.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must have a caring attitude and be helpful.
  • Experience with geriatrics is preferred but not required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have resided in Michigan for the past 12 months.
  • No prior experience necessary; must be able to operate a computer.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification is desirable but not required at hire.
