Position Overview: Physician 17-18 assesses and manages medical conditions and illnesses of the assigned patients s role involves providing medical care, including physical examinations, injury/illness assessments, preventive health measures, and minor first aid to staff. The position involves direct healthcare services to individuals in the care or custody of the state, with unsupervised access to controlled substances. It also includes providing consultative services for psychiatric programs at WRPH, including training healthcare professionals and support staff in medical case reviews.

Possession of a medical degree from an accredited school of medicine.

Physician P17:
One year of post-medical degree, full-licensure experience in medicine or osteopathic medicine and surgery.

Physician 18:
Three years of post-medical degree, full-licensure experience in medicine or osteopathic medicine and surgery.

Additional requirements include:

• Diploma from an accredited medical school
• Certificates from an accredited residency in family practice or internal medicine
• Valid medical license in Michigan
• License to prescribe controlled substances
• Current BLS and ACLS certificates
