R&D Technician

Overview

Join a dynamic team in the research and development department, working on a pilot line to create prototype batteries. As an R&D Technician, you will perform various tasks including measuring, collecting, and analyzing data to provide real‑time feedback to engineers; mix materials using industrial mixers, compress materials with hydraulic presses, and dispense materials with hydraulic pumps.

Assembly of final products utilizing various production equipment will be a key responsibility, along with troubleshooting machine issues and collaborating with team members for solutions. You will manage tool and die changeovers and ensure smooth operation of machinery by adopting an ownership mentality. Identifying sources of problems through observation and elevating concerns will be essential, along with completing required paperwork and documenting parts and material usage.

• Measure, collect, and analyze data to provide real‑time results and feedback to engineers.
• Mix materials using industrial mixers and compress materials using hydraulic presses.
• Dispense materials using hydraulic pumps and assemble final products using production equipment.
• Troubleshoot issues with machines and collaborate with team members to resolve problems.
• Manage and perform tool and die changeovers to ensure smooth operation of machinery.
• Identify sources of problems through observation and elevate concerns.
• Complete required paperwork and document parts and material usage.

• Basic computer knowledge and navigation capability.
• Experience with Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Teams.
• Experience in a laboratory or manufacturing industry dealing with small parts or chemicals.
• Experience or coursework related to chemistry, sciences, or mathematics.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs.
• Knowledge of proper chemical handling safety procedures.

• Experience working in a lab is strongly preferred.
• Ability to interpret shop manuals, schematics, and work instructions.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Associate’s degree or college coursework in a STEM field preferred.

The role is based in a manufacturing floor environment within an R&D lab. It follows a team‑based approach to creating work schedules and executing plans. It is an all‑hands‑on‑deck environment where everyone helps wherever they can. Wearing a respirator may be required, and candidates must be open to trimming facial hair if needed for respirator use.

This is a Contract position based out of Westlake, OH.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 – $22.00/hr.
