Raytheon is seeking an Optical Manufacturing Engineer Level 3, in support of the Global ISR Sensors and Software business. This role designs and develops manufacturing processes for products, taking into consideration problems inherent in the transfer of technology from research to manufacturing. Such design and development may include new or revised processes. Develop procedures for economical mass production in cooperation with pilot-plant and production departments Conduct tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable variables and services, troubleshoots and solves production process problems with processes or equipment already in operation.
This position will be located ONSITE at our Westford, MA facility.
- Provide engineering support for various optical potting, assembly, and integration/alignment operations such as coating elements, stacking/assembly of optics, alignments, grinding, cleaning, or applying adhesives
- Design, control, and improve the manufacturing process through collaboration with a multi-disciplined team
- Implement manufacturing process control and performance monitoring
- Create and oversee improvement projects
- Translate engineering design requirements into manufacturing processes
- Perform hardware defect analysis
- Participate in corrective action investigations
- Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
- Experience with interpretation of technical documentation (i.e. Engineering drawings and specifications)
- Experience with the creation of work instructions in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with a shop floor management system (i.e. SAP, PRISM, ERP, MRP, or similar manufacturing software)
- Experience with lean manufacturing and project execution
- Experience working with Electro-Optical assemblies used in surveillance and reconnaissance systems
- Due to programs and projects this position supports, U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Experience with a shop floor management system (i.e. SAP, PRISM, ERP, MRP, or similar manufacturing software)
- Clean room experience.
- Good dexterity skills required due to delicate handling of precision optical components.
- Follow oral and written instructions and have overall good communication skills.
- Familiar with Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to work independently within a team environment
- Shift flexibility is critical
- Team-oriented – actively participates and steps in for other commodities as needed.
