Description

Millennium Power Services is seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist to join our team in Westfield, MA. This role is specifically focused on programming, setting up, and operating a 4-axis Haas mill using Mastercam software.

We are looking for a self-sufficient machinist who can take a job from print to finished part with minimal supervision while maintaining tight tolerances and high-quality standards.

Responsibilities

4-Axis Haas Mill Setup & Operation

  • Independently set up and operate 4-axis Haas CNC milling machines.
  • Perform complete machine setups including fixturing, tooling selection, offsets, and prove-outs.
  • Run first articles and make program adjustments as needed.

Mastercam Programming

  • Create, modify, and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam.
  • Develop efficient toolpaths for 4-axis machining operations.
  • Troubleshoot and refine programs to improve cycle times and part quality.
  • Post-process programs specifically for Haas controls.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T.
  • Understand tolerances and machining requirements to produce precision components.

Quality Control

  • Inspect first-piece and in-process parts using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, indicators, etc.).
  • Ensure parts meet all dimensional and quality specifications.

Tooling & Process Optimization

  • Select appropriate tooling, inserts, holders, and fixtures.
  • Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce scrap.
  • Maintain proper cutting parameters for various materials.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance

  • Identify and resolve machining issues to minimize downtime.
  • Perform routine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures and company standards.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience required
  • Strong experience programming in Mastercam (required)
  • Proven experience setting up and operating 4-axis Haas mills (required)
  • Ability to independently perform full setups and prove-outs
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and understanding GD&T
  • Experience working to tight tolerances
  • Strong understanding of speeds, feeds, tooling, and work holding
  • Proficient with precision measuring instruments
  • Strong math and geometry skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred
Preferred Experience
  • Experience machining stainless steel, alloy steel, and specialty materials
  • Experience optimizing cycle times and improving machining efficiency
  • Familiarity with Haas controls and post-processors
  • Regular hours:
    Monday-Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
  • Overtime and weekend hours available and required as needed.
