This position works out of our Westfield, IN location in the Structural Heart division.
Structural Heart Business Mission:Why We Exist
Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life by designing and providing device and management solutions for treating structural heart disease. You will be responsible for the cross-functional management and technical leadership of sustaining engineering projects within the Structural Heart Business Unit.
We are seeking an experienced, high caliber Project Manager who will have responsibility for planning and leading the resources and processes required for successful implementation of operations/sustaining engineering projects. The Project Manager is involved in the management of activities to ensure that scope and project plans are implemented in accordance with Abbott project methodologies, through proposal and project start up, execution and completion.
The Project Manager is responsible for day-to-day direction of their matrixed project team and representing the team in project status reporting to all levels of Structural Heart management. This position requires exemplary motivation, communication, organization skills, and attention to detail, as well as the ability to create and manage an effective team environment.
What You’ll Work On- Responsible for managing multiple, global, complex, cross-functional projects, from beginning to end, with accountability for project execution.
- Demonstrate stewardship and provide leadership to meet Division strategies and business objectives.
- Deliver project excellence by incorporating best practices in project management
- Ensure project scope and success criteria are clearly established; develop and manage project plan to meet deliverables
- Initiate, lead and communicate project assessments and lessons learned
- Ensure team is working within project scope and effectively coordinate the activities of the team to meet project milestones
- Proactively identify changes in project scope and assure appropriate measures are taken to reassess and amend requirements, budget and timeline
- Create and deliver project review presentations
- Work directly with functional area managers to resolve issues that impact completion of project objectives: determine when to escape issues to appropriate levels of management
- Directs project execution by assigning tasks, tracking project schedules, identifying risks, and developing and executing contingency plans
- Demonstrates appropriate leadership skills to influence others without direct authority
- Identifies project issues and makes recommendations for resolution
- Communicates project status including schedule, cost, issues & risks across the functions within the business unit and to all levels of management
- Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies and Business Units operating procedures
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
- Eight (8) years of medical device experience in R&D, Manufacturing and/or Quality Engineering
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate to all levels of the organization…
