To to motivate each pupil to acquire knowledge of middle grade and secondary subjects as related to content being taught.
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Teaches skills and knowledge, to middle grade and secondary pupils, using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.
- Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
- Plans a middle grade and secondary program involving demonstrations, lectures, discussions, and student activities in assigned content for optimal learning.
- Provides individual or small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior for a productive learning environment during class sessions and field trips.
- Evaluates each pupil's growth in knowledge and skills in course being taught.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.
- Identifies pupil's needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
- Assists pupils in selection and development of individual research projects.
- Communicates with parents and school counselors in pupil progress.
- Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day.
- Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of student activities.

Education and/or ExperienceBachelor's degree (B.
A.) from four-year college or university. One to two years related experience preferred.
Must be highly qualified in area of assignment. Valid AZ teaching certificate with appropriate approved area or endorsement. Structured English Immersion (SEI) required.
