Construction Staking Assistant

Job Description

We are hiring a Construction Staking Assistant to support layout and staking operations on commercial and industrial concrete projects. This role works directly with our layout team to help mark and verify locations for concrete pads, foundations, utilities, and site features using Trimble equipment and other survey tools.

Responsibilities

* Assist with staking and marking points for concrete foundations, slabs, utilities, and site layout

* Hold the survey rod, move to layout points, and help set stakes, hubs, lath, and flagging

* Help interpret basic construction drawings to understand where layout points need to be placed

* Support the setup, transport, and maintenance of survey and layout equipment

* Record measurements, elevations, and field notes as directed

* Verify site dimensions and assist with layout checks before concrete placement

* Perform general field tasks and assist with daily layout operations

Essential Skills

* 1-2 years of experience in concrete, construction labor, carpentry, or related field work

* Familiarity with staking, layout, or survey work is helpful

* Ability to read or learn to read blueprints and site plans

* Strong reliability, communication, and work ethic

* Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions

* Willingness to work standard construction hours with occasional extended days during peak season

Work Environment

This is a field‑based role on active construction sites. You will work closely with experienced layout personnel and receive hands‑on exposure to staking, layout processes, and Trimble equipment. This position offers steady work, consistent hours, and the opportunity to build valuable skills in construction layout.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westfield, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.
